Quite often, significant events in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) go under-reported in mainstream media in the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States (US). This week, a security forum is unfolding in Beijing with representatives from approximately 100 countries. The PRC not only aims to showcase its capability to ‘deter any war’, – we know what future conflict this likely refers to – but also to espouse the worldview of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Meanwhile, an op-ed in the Global Times, the English-language mouthpiece of the CCP, published a diatribe against Britain for ever having suspected two of its nationals for spying for the PRC in the first place. The article claims that such suspicion is merely evidence against the rife ‘hostility’ towards Beijing which pervades the UK.
